Favorite Artist: Elvis Costello
1. Why do you like this artist? Because the music he has produced has developed over time and is always pushing boundaries, the music has matured as he and I have grown older.
2. How does this artist express him or herself? He is a song writer and composer, in addition he sings and plays guitar, either alone or with others.
3. What is one of your parents favourite works and why? One of my favourite albums is Painted from Memory. The songs were composed and played together with Burt Bacharach, a famous musician from the 1960s who had not realeased music for many years. Their music, was unlike anything that Elvis Costello had realeased before and conveyed a very different mood than any of his other songs.
4. What is the artists connection with society? He has for years interacted with musicians from many different nationalities and musical backgrounds. He has also connected with his fans during concerts or on television or through videos.
5. Does the artist have a message to tell? Or is the artist creating artwork in response to events happening in the world? Some of his songs convey a message, while others are a reaction to events around him. For me, the message he conveys is less important than the mood he creates through his music.
